This project is now concluded because we have exhausted all our funding for Dr Volikova. We will maintain the presence of the website and, if she is inclined, Dr Volikova will informally monitor the forum and may choose to reply to questions posted there.
We estimate that it will require funding of $200,000 to continue the project because there will be some start-up time and costs related to administration of recommencement. If the funding becomes available and then we will contact anybody who wishes to participate in the second half of the study which is currently on indefinite hold.
There are many who are diagnosed with chronic bladder pain syndrome, however there is little knowledge and support on how to treat the problem. There are also many people living with chronic bladder pains but the condition is not diagnosed. We would like to reach out to anyone who have or may have this condition to help us with our research.
Please consider the following questions:
- Have you ever been diagnosed with bladder pain syndrome/interstitial cystitis?
- Have you ever had pain, pressure or discomfort in the bladder area with one of these other symptoms:
- Frequent urination (more than 10 times in a 24 hour period)
- Nocturia – interrupted sleep due to urination (more than twice a night)
- Have you ever been left without a diagnosis?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions and/or had symptoms that lasted for more than 3 months that could not be treated or diagnosed, then please contact us at your earliest convenience.
Please note, your privacy is of our utmost concern and be assured that your personal information will be protected and excluded from the research data.
